All systems are go for Saturday’s Summer Sizzler presented by Wilson Equipment at Riverside International Speedway. The grassroots racing extravaganza will see high octane action in three popular divisions, the Auto World Allstar Sportsman Series, the Passione Flooring Mini Stock Tour, and the Hot Rod Classics Vintage Race Car Series.
The stakes will be high for the sportsman racers in the NAPA Auto Parts/ Henry’s AUTOPRO 150 – the biggest race of the year for the series – with more than $20,000 on the line including a guaranteed $5000 to win plus another $3000 in lap leader bonus money; the winner could take home as much as $8200. Top sportsman racers in the region have pre-registered for the race in hopes of taking home the lion’s share of the purse and scoring valuable points en route to the series inaugural championship. With just three races remaining on the ‘22 schedule just two markers separate the top two runners Deven Smith and Brady Creamer (212 vs 210). Colby Smith sits third (196) just 14 points behind Creamer. Local racers Corey Breen and Jeffrey Breen, along with Kevin Morse and Dennis Nickerson will look to defend their home turf against those from away. And, full-time pro stock racer Russell Smith Jr. – a former sportsman hotshoe – will be in the field to challenge the sportsman regulars, including his brother Deven.
