JAMES RIVER, NS – Management for Riverside International Speedway is excited to announce July 16-19 for the 2025 IWK 250 Super Weekend, culminating on July 19 with the 17th running of the IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis. The event is the largest stock car racing event in eastern Canada and is on the bucket list of fans all over North America.
“So many of our IWK 250 fans are planning vacations around this event that it’s important we get the date out there early,” said Joan Roué, manager of Riverside International Speedway. “Every year more folks are arriving on Wednesday to enjoy a full five days at the track and in the area.”
While details for the event schedule are yet to be set, the format is generally expected to remain as it’s been with practice on Wednesday evening for those divisions that race on Friday. Thursday sees practice for the IWK 250 contenders followed by a Tailgate Party. Friday showcases two regional racing divisions and the weekend culminates Saturday with the IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis.
The IWK 250 is an iconic race on the North American stock car circuit with long roots, reaching back as far as 1977 when the first 250-lap event held in the Maritimes was contested at Riverside. Since then, a who’s-who of Canadian stock car royalty and even a couple of NASCAR stars have won the event and seen their names etched on the revered John W. Chisholm Memorial Cup. Since its inception in 2007, the IWK 250 has raised awareness and over $600,000 for the IWK Foundation.
Camping for the 2025 IWK 250 weekend will open on Wednesday, July 16; camping reservations (renewals and new) are expected to open before the end of this year. Hotel rooms are presently available at the Official Hotel of Riverside International Speedway, Microtel Inn & Suites Antigonish, just a 10-minute drive from the track. Fans can make reservations online (www.microtelantigonish.com) or call the hotel directly (902-735-0101).
