JAMES RIVER, NS (June 12, 2013) – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour (PST) heads to the high banks of Riverside International Speedway this Saturday, June 15 for the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150. This will be the first event of the season for the track and round two of 12 for the popular stock car racing series. Riverside has produced 12 different winners in the last 14 PST events at the track. Grandstand gates for the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150 open at 3:00 p.m.; Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials get underway at 5:10 p.m. with racing slated for 6:00.
Hometown heroes Donald Chisholm (Antigonish) and George Koszkulics (New Glasgow) will be drivers to watch on Saturday. Chisholm won the event in 2011, one of three wins to his name at the track. Koszkulics is always quick at his home track, with his most recent win there at the end of the 2011 season. Mike Stevens (Riverview, NB) is the defending champion of the race which has been extended from 100 to 150 laps this year. These three are expected to battle more than 25 other teams from all over the Maritimes as they attempt to reclaim Victory Lane this Saturday. Expected Entry List.
The Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150 is round two of 12 on the series championship quest. Two-time and defending series champion Shawn Turple (Enfield) leads three-time series champion John Flemming (Halifax) by just three markers. Flemming won the season opener but Turple led the most laps, hence Turple’s lead in the standings. Greg Proude (Springvale, PE), Daryl Mahar (Hubley),a nd Steve Ross (Waverley) round out the top five in series point standings, respectively.
The Napa Sportsman Series will open its 2013 season with the Highland Home Building Centre 50 as part of Saturday’s show. Both divisions will qualify for the features in heat races; the pro stocks will set the field for heat races with time trials, starting at 5:10 p.m.
