JAMES RIVER, NS – Cape Breton’s party band, High Society is crossing the causeway July 16 to bring their brand of fun-filled high energy rock and roll to the IWK 250 Tailgate Party at Riverside International Speedway. The seven-member group features veteran talented musicians and vocalists covering top tunes from several decades.
The IWK 250 Tailgate Party has become a “must-do” part of the IWK 250 Super Race Weekend, capping off an afternoon/early evening IWK 250 practice session – and kicking off the rest of the weekend by getting fans primed for the legendary IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis on July 18. On July 17 fans will enjoy an evening of high-octane excitement featuring the Napa Sportsman Series and Maritime League of Legends.
High Society has opened for top groups and is widely known for its high-quality shows. They belt out tight harmonies accompanied by keys, drums, guitars, bass, and brass, recreating musical memories covering legendary groups like Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Abba, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Trooper, CCR, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, The John Mellencamp, Bob Seger, Burton Cummings, Elton John, Billy Joel, Shania Twain, Rod Stewart and many more – plus – local favourites like The Rankins.
Fans attending the IWK 250 TestFest between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on July 16 will get their first peek at teams that will enter the IWK 250 on July 18. Thursday’s practice session is integral for teams as they shake down their car and get up to speed for Saturday’s big event. Admission to the grandstand is free during the practice session, after which the stands are cleared in preparation for the Tailgate Party, expected to start between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. Fans of all ages can watch the concert from the main grandstand while age restrictions apply to the stage-front licensed area.
