The 10th-anniversary edition of the IWK 250 Superweekend Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body will be held July 15 & 16, 2016 at Riverside International Speedway. The highlight of the two-day event is the IWK 250 on Saturday, July 16, widely recognized as the most entertaining stock car race in Canada. The weekend will kick off Friday, July 15 featuring the Napa Sportsman Series in the Highland Home Building Centres 100.

Saturday (July 16) is a pro-stock only show as teams prepare their cars in hopes of ending the day in Victory Lane enjoying all the glory that goes with being an IWK 250 champion – the custom winner’s trophy, seeing their name on the prestigious John W. Chisholm Memorial Cup, the money, and the lifelong prestige that goes with being an IWK 250 champion. The IWK 250 is a championship points event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour.

The IWK 250 is more than a race; it is an event. Fans come from all over Canada and the United States to witness it. Celebrity drivers from the NASCAR ranks challenge the region’s best racers and also meet and greet fans. In the last nine years, the IWK 250 has hosted Aric Almirola, Marcos Ambrose, two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton, Ricky Craven, 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, David Reutimann, and Regan Smith. Smith is the only NASCAR challenger to win the IWK 250.

More than 800 recreational vehicles converge on the grounds of Riverside International Speedway, arriving days beforehand so their owners can enjoy watching the event unfold as the week progresses. More than 15,000 fans historically pass through the gates over the weekend which also sees contests, autographs sessions, and entertainment.

Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) is the defending champion of the IWK 250, joining John Flemming (Halifax) as the only two-time winners in the modern era of the event. The IWK 250 has a storied history being known for more than three decades as the Riverside 250 and boasting a champion list featuring the best-known racers in Canada; in 2007 it was rebranded the IWK 250 and since then has raised awareness and more than $300,000 for the IWK Foundation.

With 2016 being the 10th anniversary of the event, fans can expect even more from the IWK 250 next year.

A support class for the Friday show will be announced in the New Year. Campsite renewals will be offered starting in March and tickets for the 2016 edition of the IWK 250 Superweekend will be available in mid-June.
